Ritu Jaiswal (born 26 August 1977) is the Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat Raj Singhwahini, Sonbarsha, SitamarhiBihar.

Early life

Ritu was born to Late Bhola Prashad Choudhary and Mrs. Asha Jaiswal on 26 August 1977 in Hajipur, Bihar. She has studied Bachelors of Arts (Economics) from Vaishali Mahila College. She is also a trained Bharat Natyam and Kathak dancer.

Political career

Ritu contested and won the election for the position of Mukhiya from Gram Panchayat Raj Singwahini in 2016. She won by a huge margin of 1853 votes more the nearest rival in a constituency consisting of fourteen thousand residents.

Awards and recognition

She was conferred the “Uchh Shikshit Adarsh Yuva Sarpanch (Mukhiya) Puraskaar 2016” at the 7th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad by the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Government on 18 January, in Pune.

She was among the 5 Mukhiyas selected to represent Bihar for the "Capacity Building Program for Sarpanch & Panchayat Secretaries" by The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India at the Siri fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

Personal life

Ritu married Arun Kumar on 7 December 1996. Arun Kumar is a 1995 batch Indian Civil Service (Allied) officer who has served as the Director, Central Vigilance Commission.They have a son Aryan and a daughter Avani.
